The Scott County Conservation Board is now accepting applications for the 2013 Controlled Deer Hunt at Scott County Park on December 7 and December 8, 2013.

Only residents of the State of Iowa are eligible to participate and applications must be submitted no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has approved the issuance of 50 special deer licenses for the hunt.

The controlled hunts at Scott County Park began in 1996.

At that time, there were more than five hundred deer at the park. The park was over populated.

Since then the controlled hunts have reduced the herd considerably.
