Davenport city leaders have a new proposal on the table for a land-based casino. This one comes from a Canadian development firm partnered with a Quad City developer who has already made a pitch to the city. Rodney Blackwell and Clairvest Group are pitching a $250,000,000 project. A casino, hotel, and several other businesses that would sit at the intersection of Interstates 80 and 74.

"At this time it looks like it could be a bonanza for the people of Davenport," said Mayor Bill Gluba. "Schools get huge amounts of money when you add another hundred million dollars of business development, they also get pieces of the action."

This proposal comes as Davenport council members are set to vote on a development deal with Dan Kehl and Scott County Casino. That agreement calls for the construction of a $100,000,000 casino and hotel complex along with other businesses. That proposal is expected to generate more than $2,000,000 in property taxes. But, that agreement is non-exclusive.
