The Sterling Police Department was called a fatal motorcycle accident on Sunday, September 8, 2013, around 11:00 a.m.

The crash happened at the intersection of East Lincolnway and 45th Avenue.

Police say 78-year-old Burton R. Lorenzen of Dixon, was westbound in the left turn lane of East Lincolnway, turning left onto 45th Avenue, when he collided with an eastbound motorcycle driven by 20-year-old Brian A. Schrimpf of Dixon.

Schrimpf was taken to CGH Medical Center and later flown to OSF St. Antony Medical Center in Rockford via Lifeline Helicopter, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say Lorenzen and a passenger in his vehicle were not injured.
