Little Bear Park

Updated:

September 29th is dedication day for the new Little Bear Park in Maquoketa.

Volunteers from Maquoketa and several surrounding communities pitched in to help build the new playground. It will be state of the art and have a rubber surface for safety purposes.

Little Bear Two  replaces a wooden playground which  had been in Maquoketa for twenty one years but was showing signs of old age.

The new playground will be made of composite wood which is expected to last fifty years or more. There will be a fire truck and rocket ship. The playground  will be accessible for people with disabilities.

Cost of the new  parts and other essentials is about three hundred twenty six thousand dollars. Most of that money has already been  raised.

The new playground is next to Briggs Elementary School.
