The Banjoliers - News and Weather For The Quad Cities -

The Banjoliers

Jim Lyon is one of the original members. The band started in 1982.

Jim began playing tenor banjo in 1959.

Thirty one years later, the Banjoliers continue to entertain local audiences.

Band members say you cannot frown when you hear banjo music.

Mary McAndrew  joined the group about three and a half years ago. She plays a banjo that is one hundred nineteen years old and was found in a barn in Central City, Iowa.

It belonged to an elderly man who evidently put it in the barn. It was there for about fifty years before somebody found it. One of Mary's friends bought it at a sale and sold it to Mary.

The Banjoliers do about sixty performances a year.  Toe tapping music. Music that will make you smile. Music that is sure to put you in a good mood.
