Davenport Police are adding another charge to the father of a 2-year-old left alone in a house before it caught fire.

Police initially charged 21-year-old Edgar Mendoza with child endangerment with bodily injury in connection with the fire on August 30, 2013 at 1624 ½ West 7th St. in Davenport.

Now police say Mendoza's real identity is Edgar Ponce.

Along with the child endangerment charge, Ponce is now charged with providing false information to police.

Officials say the toddler's parents left him home alone, sleeping on a couch, while the father took the mother to work.

The cause of the fire was determined to be a stove burner left on with hot grease in a skillet.
