Updated: Sep 19, 2013 04:21 PM

Update: A news briefing has been postponed until Friday morning. Officials say agents with the FBI and Illinois State Police are excavating at the girl's East Dubuque home and that it is taking more time than expected. Bond for Mr. Abbas has been set at $1 million and he is being held in the Jo Daviess Co. Jail.

Earlier post:

The East Dubuque Police confirm that the police chief will be conducting another briefing this afternoon on new developments in the disappearance of a teenage girl two years ago.

Court documents show that Terry Abbas has been charged with two counts of first degree murder in the strangulation death of a minor with the initials C.K. on October 13, 2011. That's when 14-year-old Chyenne Kircher disappeared.

According to our sister station, KWWL, Abbas is Kircher's stepfather.

KWQC-TV6 is covering the developments and will bring you more information.
