The Old School Way

Updated:

He is all about exercise. The old fashioned way.

Forty year old Ryan Pitts from Grand Mound makes his own fitness equipment.

Ryan swings a steel ball with a handle.  He has designed a sledge hammer and uses that to pound away on a half tire.

These exercises are what Ryan calls the strongman arts.  He has been doing old time feats of strength for about thirteen years.

Pitts can drive a nail through a board with his hand. He bends steel nails with his hands.

Ryan  is five- ten and weighs one hundred eighty pounds. Many of these strength exercises require mind over matter. He encourages people not to allow fear to conquer them.

Pitts sells some of his conditioning tools to college and pro football teams.

Ryan says these types of exercises allow a person to work the whole body and get strong from head to toe.
