Iowa Governor's Vehicle Caught Speeding, Again

Updated:

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Weeks after a speeding scandal involving Gov. Terry Branstad, another trooper driving the governor has been disciplined for speeding.

Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Scott Bright said Friday that trooper Darren Argabright was pulled over Aug. 27 while driving Branstad to an event in Hampton.

Bright said Argabright was pulled over on Highway 3 and given a warning for speeding by a Franklin County deputy.

Franklin County Sheriff Larry Richtsmeier said Argabright was driving less than 10 mph over the speed limit, the criteria for receiving a warning.

Bright said Argabright notified his superiors immediately, and the patrol launched an investigation. He said Argabright has been given unspecified disciplinary action.

Trooper Steve Lawrence was ticketed and disciplined for driving 19 miles over the limit in a high-profile incident in April.
