Elks Lodge Gives Dictionaries At Davenport Schools

A ten year program is making sure area students have an important learning tool, a dictionary. Volunteers from the Elks Lodge are handing out free dictionaries at Davenport schools.
The program started when members of the lodge noticed these schools had very few and very outdated dictionaries.
Harrison Elementary third graders say they appreciate the gift.

"Really important because, if you didn't know a word and didn't have a dictionary then you wouldn't know what it mean," said 3rd-grader Olivia Heller. "I'm going to use it with care and respect because that's how you treat books."

The Elks volunteers will hand out dictionaries Tuesday, October 1st and Wednesday, October 2nd at Buffalo, Monroe and Buchanan Elementaries.
