United Way of the Quad Cities Area helps to fund ninety programs through forty eight agencies in the Quad Cities Area.

One of those agencies is Hand In Hand located in Bettendorf.

Hand in Hand assists families. Several of those families have special needs children. The agency receives about sixty thousand dollars from United Way. Hand In Hand's Mark Smith says that money helps to fund pre- school,

childcare, and other programs. Without that funding, Smith indicates that he probably would have to cut staff and some programs.

Jenny Parvin of United Way says  funding helps a community  meet its basic needs, especially in education, income, and health.

United Way's funding goal this year is almost nine million dollars. The campaign ends in November.
