"Headmaster for a Day" In Bettendorf

Updated:

Getting a different view of the QCA and the lives of others is part of the "Headmaster for a Day" event at Rivermont Collegiate in Bettendorf. It was also a special surprise for one third grade student.

Aidan Sears was tagging along with current headmaster Todd Zachary for the day. Zachary was in the Air Force and decided to add special flight over the QCA as part of the experience for young Aidan.

He says along with learning in the classroom education is also about new experiences.

"It's also important just to experience new things and see the world in a slightly different perspective," said Zachary.

"I get to go out on an airplane to see a new perspective of high up in the air," said Sears. "I got to see what the headmasters room looks like, check out what kindergarteners were doing in our school and a lot of very fun things like reading to kindergarteners."

The "Headmaster for a Day" is offered as part of the school's annual auction and dinner fundraiser. After the flight the two got to take a tour of the historic Bettendorf Mansion, part of the Rivermont Collegiate campus.
