UPDATE: The Illinois State Police say they hope to have one lane open to westbound traffic shortly.They say the semi-truck driven by 42-year-old Ignacio Lopez of Chicago, Ill., was travelling west on I-80 in the vicinity of mile marker 12 when it crossed into the center median and lost control.Witnesses say the semi then crossed back into the west bound lanes, rolled on its side blocking all west bound traffic. The driver was transported from the scene with minor injuries.He was charged with improper lane usage.Authorities say the left lane of westbound I-80 will remain closed for clean-up.
ORIGINAL: An accident on westbound I-80, between Geneseo, Ill. and the I-74 interchange has caused traffic to be diverted from the interstate.Early Friday morning, October 11, 2013, a semi-truck was involved in an accident near mile marker 12 that landed it on its side in the middle of the westbound lanes.Eyewitnesses say its cargo is scattered across the roadway.Motorists are being detoured off westbound I-80 at Geneseo, Ill.
