Investigation At Community Care, Inc. DeWitt: Managers Let Go

An investigation has led to a shake-up at a health care office that serves the Quad City area.

KWQC-TV6 has confirmed that the managers at the Community Care, Inc. in DeWitt, Iowa have been let go.

A member of the board of directors tells us the chief executive officer, chief financial officer and chief operating officer from DeWitt and Marion, Iowa were terminated in connection with a Medicaid billing investigation. In a news release, the board says it learned of the investigation on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 and believes it relates to billing for Medicaid payments.

The news release goes on to say that while there are no allegations of wrongdoing by the management team, the board decided to have an outside management consulting firm take over operations during the investigation.

By law, Medicaid payments must be suspended during an investigation, which would force Community Care, Inc. to close. The board entered into a settlement agreement with the state in order to continue to receive payments and continue to operate while the investigation continues.

Community Care, Inc. is  a private, non-profit organization based in DeWitt that offers programs and services to people with disabilities in seven Iowa counties.
