A Muscatine County deputy sheriff says the incident happened on Wednesday night, October 16, 2013 around 11:41.

He says the vehicle was traveling at 108 mph in a 55 mph zone on Iowa Highway 22 near Forest Lane.

After an attempt to pull the vehicle over, the driver turned off the headlights and continued to speed away.

According to officials, the pursuit continued for another two miles, when the offender vehicle lost control and went into the ditch off of Iowa Hwy. 22 and Vanatta.
