Scott County deputies raided a house near Long Grong, Iowa where they say they found a cache of weapons and ammunition and feared there may also be pipe bombs.

On Thursday, October 17, 2013, after an anonymous tip, probation officers went to inspect the home of a convicted felon, and asked deputies to join them. According to Lt. Bryce Schmidt with the Scott County Sheriff's Department, officers saw a rifle in the bedroom in plain site. At that point, they filed for a search warrant.

In the meantime, officers noticed some PVC piping in the garage. Schmidt says the pipes looked suspicious because they had caps on each end, similar to a pipe bomb. That's when they called in the bomb squad and a special robot detonated the pipes. At this time, Schmidt says it doesn't appear there were any bomb materials.

When officers searched the home, they seized close to a dozen weapons of various types including rifles, shotguns and handguns. They also seized boxes of ammunition. Schmidt says there were probably enough boxes to fill the bed of a pick up truck. Ammunition reloading equipment was also seized from the home.

Authorities arrested 40-year-old Christopher Bozik on a charge of possession of firearms as a felon. The Department of Correctional Services is looking into probation violations.
