The Lee County Sheriff's Department arrested two men in possession of a PVC type pipe bomb. Both were charged with unlawful use of a weapon, a Class 3 felony.

Zacharay W. Chaffe, 31, of Dixon, Ill. and Scott R. Williams, 32 of Sterling, Ill., stated that the pipe bomb was purchased in Dixon in the bar area.

Police were dispatched to the area of the Dixon Correctional Faculty near Heights Road and North Brinton Ave. to investigate a suspicious persons complaint. The two males were found and questioned and were taken into custody after a short investigation.

The Winnebago County Bomb Unit was called to assist and the detonated the device without incident. Chaffe also had an outstanding Whiteside County Warrant.
