Davenport Talks Credit Island Reconstruction

Updated:

The city of Davenport is ready for reconstruction at the fire-damaged Credit Island Lodge. The city held interviews to select a consultant team to work on the project.

The lodge was badly burned back in May and a task force recommended renovation for the historic building. A panel including city leaders and friends of Credit Island are learning more about the proposed designs for the building.

"We want to instill the integrity of the building," said Ald. Nathan Brown. "We want to make sure everything is still maintained, that historical nature of the building and the Island itself."

The cost to rebuild most of the building will be covered by insurance. The hope is to re-open the Lodge by next spring.

The panel expects to make a decision on a design plan quickly and take that to city council.
