UPDATE: Man Gets Life For Murder Of East Dubuque Girl

An East Dubuque man accused of murdering his step daughter will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Terry Abbas pleaded guilty to charges back in October. During the trial he took responsibility for Chyenne Kircher's death.

Abbas admitted to sexually abusing and killing her, then burying her body behind their home.
Chyenne, 14, disappeared from her East Dubuque home two years ago. Her remains were found in September.


The stepfather of an East Dubuque girl, whose body was recently found behind her home, has pleaded guilty to murder charges.

Terry Abbas was in Jo Daviess County Court Thursday afternoon for a status hearing in the case. He was charged last month on several counts of first degree murder, sexual abuse and concealing a homicidal death. The same week he was charged, law officers found the body of 14-year-old Chyenne Kircher buried in the woods behind their home in East Dubuque. She had been missing since October of 2011.

Abbas entered a guilty plea on all charges. 

A sentencing hearings has been scheduled for December 6, 2013. His sentence for murder could range from 20 years to natural life in prison without the possibility of parole.
