The Iowa Department of Corrections says an inmate staying at the Davenport Work Release Facility has escaped.

Officials say Michael Christopher Lewis was placed on escape status on Thursday, October 24, 2013.

Lewis began a 19 year sentence on March 20, 2008.

He was convicted of intimidation with a dangerous weapon, going armed with intent, third degree criminal mischief and operating a vehicle without owner consent.

Lewis was transferred to work release on September 6, 2013.

Officials say he was placed on escape status following an unexcused absence from the Davenport facility.

Anyone with information on Lewis' whereabouts are asked to call Davenport Police or the Scott County Sheriff's Office.
