Black Hawk College East helped the QCA get into the Halloween spirit by auctioning off pumpkins. This is the 11th year for the pumpkin auction.

It raises money for the Kewanee area United Way.

Local growers donate the gourds, then the livestock judging team auctions off the pumpkins as if they were livestock.

"It's productive, it's fun, and it's a great way for community spirit and effort to be drawn together," said Deann Schweitzer of the United Way.

The auction raised $6,000 this year, up from $4,500 last year.

The biggest pumpkin, brought in over $1,200 on its own.
