Michael McCullough is on a mission to find the family one mystery box belongs to.

"Something that somebody was moving from one home to another, I'm sure and they'd like to have. Hopefully be able to have it back in their possession," he said.

It's a box filled with old family photos, handmade crafts and things that make a house a home. It was lying in the intersection of Mount Pleasant St. and N. Roosevelt Ave. in Burlington, IA

"It's kind of a road hazard for people driving, as well if they tried to swerve and miss something. So, I thought it really needed to get out of the road which is partly what prompted me to stop in the first place."

He immediately took the box and went through it hoping to find some kind of identification.

"I wasn't able to identify. I don't know anybody from any of the pictures. They weren't people that I recognized."

Names in this old local newspaper article were also a possible clue as to who the box could belong to. He reached out to police for help, but even that lead him nowhere.

"He ran that through his data base to try to find somebody we can contact and we didn't have any luck doing that."

His search continues hoping to finally return the box to its rightful owner.

If the box is yours, or if you know who it belongs to you can contact Michael E McCullough at (319)759-6578.
