Making the cut. That's what several Augustana College students have been doing recently.

The students have carved fifty pumpkins with various business logos. The pumpkins are sold to those businesses for twenty five dollars each. The money will be donated to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. The fraternity has a long history of donating to the research center.

Several sororities on campus also participated. The pumpkins were also sold to groups and individuals.

Student Erik Johnson did some of the carving. Fraternity member Mike Mertell was perhaps the fastest carver.

The fifty pumpkins weighed a total of about seven hundred pounds.

Four students plan to travel to Memphis in November to present the hospital with about twenty five hundred dollars. A Halloween gift from Augustana  students who were happy  to Carve For Kids!
