Update 11-4-13: Illinois State Police have released the name of the driver killed in the crash as Eric Cramer, age 36 of La Harpe, Illinois

Illinois State Police have charged the driver of a semi truck after an early morning fatal accident in Hancock County on November 1, 2013.

According to police, Charles De Jaynes, 77, of Dallas City, Ill. was driving on Rt. 9 near La Harpe around 6:30 a.m. when he braked to avoid a deer. His rig started to skid and crossed the centerline. It struck the driver's side of an oncoming Chevy S-10 pick-up. Both vehicles went off the road after the impact.

The driver of the pick-up was partially thrown from the vehicle and died in the crash. The name of the driver is being withheld until relatives are notified. De Jaynes was taken to the hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. He's charged with improper lane usage.
