It won't be long before we start seeing some permanent snow and ski season won't be far behind. The weekend of November 2nd is the annual equipment swap to benefit the Snowstar ski patrol.

Whether you're exchanging old skis or are in for a new pair, this is the pre-season event to do so. It all benefits the Snowstar ski patrol, the people who keep you safe when you're on the slopes.

New and used equipment will be for sale. Profits will support training and educational programs for the Snowstar ski patrol made up of volunteers.

It's the only fundraiser to benefit the patrol. Members promote safety on the hill and when people get hurt, it's their job to pick them up off the hill and respond with first aid.

They also go through rigorous training, getting certified in first aid skills, going through toboggan and avalanche training and meeting requirements in mountain travel and rescue. All of these things are costly.

"This money keeps us going," said Mike Benhart, Patrol Representative of Snowstar Ski Patrol. "Like I said it provides education for us, keeps us alive. It's a benefit to Snowstar and we're a volunteer organization."

The fundraiser starts November 2nd with check in at 7:30 and sales at 9 a.m.
