Updated:

A suspect is in custody after a chase that ended on the Iowa State University campus. Police say a man driving a pickup truck rammed police cars and an Ames officer fired at the truck. No students were hurt.

Iowa State University police say on their Facebook page the incident happened Monday morning after Ames police attempted a traffic stop on a pickup and a chase ended on the ISU campus. The pickup driver rammed police cars and an Ames police officer fired at the truck. The driver is hospitalized. No students were injured.

The university says campus activities have resumed. The incident occurred at about 10:30.

The Iowa State Daily, the university's student newspaper, reports an alert was sent to ISU students and staff at 10:55 a.m. saying the threat was over.

The newspaper reports Warren Madden, the university's senior vice president, says police indicate the pickup was stolen.
