Significant Savings From Lower Gas Prices


If you filled up you gas tank over the weekend, you may have been pleasantly surprised.

The price of gas is down again, this time, below $2.80 a gallon at many stations in the Quad City area. At the Kwik Shop on E. Locust St. in Davenport, regular gas is going for $2.76 a gallon.

According to Triple A Motor Club, the average price for gas in the Iowa Quad Cities Monday is $2.87. What may be even more significant is how much more money is staying in your pocket. Compared to just a month ago, the average was $3.16 a gallon. For a car with a 16 gallon tank, that's a savings of $4.64 per fill up. Compared to the average price of gas a year ago at $3.29, the savings is $8.96.

The savings is also significant in the Illinois Quad Cities, where the average price for gas is $3.02 a gallon. It was $3.29 a month ago and $3.49 a year ago, according to Triple A.
