The Rock Island Primary Academy, located at  930 14th St. in Rock Island, Ill. was evacuated on Wednesday morning, November 13, 2013 because of a possible gas leak.

The Rock Island School District says the students were taken to a safe location around 10:15 a.m. while crews from the Rock Island Fire Department and MidAmerican Energy investigated the situation.

A spokesperson for the school district says parents of the roughly 440 students were informed of the situation through an automated phone blast.

Fire officials say they could not detect any leak and by 10:45 a.m., students were being allowed back into the building.
