CHICAGO (AP) - Weather officials say a tornado or tornadoes have touched down in several communities in central Illinois.

National Weather Service meteorologist Ernie Goetsch says spotters have confirmed that tornadoes have touched down in Washington, Metamora, Morton and near Pekin on Sunday but it is too soon to say whether or not it is the same tornado or multiple tornadoes.

Earlier in the day, a tornado was reported near East Peoria.

In Chicago, high winds and driving rain prompted officials to clear the stands at Soldier Field. Players and coaches were leaving the field shortly after 12:30 p.m.

KWQC's Taylor Umland is on his way to the Washington/Pekin/Peoria area now. We plan to bring you the latest tonight at 5 and 10.
