Locals In Shock After Cars Were Set On Fire

"What can you say? You know we're violated. We feel very violated, and they hurt a lot of people last night. Whoever did this I want them to know that they destroyed our car. Totally destroyed our car".

Nancy Ditto was so shocked when she saw her car up in flames. She didn't even know what to do.

"I can see lights like police car lights flashing, and so my fiance got up and he said oh my God, our car is on fire. We were so shook up we couldn't even call 9-1-1, the neighbors did," she said.

She and her fiance went to bed early. Not expecting their car to be gone the next morning.

"You don't go to bed and think that you're going to wake up the next day and you don't have your vehicle."

Along with Nancy's car two other cars, and two garages were set on fire in the same neighborhood. Davenport fire officials say the person or people behind it vandalized the cars first then decided to ignite a fire inside. Nancy's car was totaled.

"It's one thing to do something like flat a tire, break a window, but when you do something like this is way beyond normal violation of someone's personal property…it's frightening, it's also scary if they'll do this what else will they do?"

Jacki Nielsen feels the same way. Although her car wasn't totaled she is in total disbelief.

"I'm pretty shocked. I just can't believe that somebody would do that. I mean vandalizing is one thing, but to actually set it on fire that's a whole other ball field and I just can't believe somebody would do it," she said.

Fire officials are still investigating these cases and looking into possible leads that could direct them to a suspect.
