UPDATE: Officials have released the names of the victims of Wednesday's crash.

They say 22-year-old Jamie Sedam of Port Byron and 24-year-old Clayton Carver of Taylor Ridge died at the scene of the crash.

ORIGINAL: A single car crash in Rock Island County killed two people and sent the driver to the hospital.

The accident happened in the 9500 block of 51st Street West in Milan, Ill., early Wednesday morning, November 27, 2013.

The Rock Island Sheriff's Department responded just before 1:00 a.m.

They say the driver lost control on a curve, went into the ditch and hit a tree.

At the scene, they found the 23-year-old male driver from Andalusia, Ill., who was transported from the scene with injuries.

Officials say two passengers, a 22-year-old female from Port Byron, Ill. and a 24-year-old male from Taylor Ridge, Ill., died from their injuries as a result of the crash.

The names of the victims are being withheld pending family notification.

The crash remains under investigation.

Authorities are awaiting the results of a toxicology report, but believe alcohol may be involved in the accident.
