These charges are not criminal charges, but Gott could lose her teaching license.

ORIGINAL: The former principal at Madison Elementary School in Davenport has been formally charged over allegations of cheating on test scores.

The Iowa Board of Education has issued a notice of a hearing that includes several charges against Sara Gott. She was in charge of the school when the district reported a high number of erasures on standardized student test sheets.

According to court documents, Gott faces several counts of violating the rules, including "misrepresenting or omitting material information regarding the evaluation of students." In addition, the board claims that during the investigation, Gott implicated others and provided false information.

The Iowa Attorney General is handling the case, which is scheduled for a hearing on January 2, 2014.

Gott has denied any wrongdoing and even reported taking a polygraph test.
