A fast moving but vigorous snow system will freshen up the blanket of snow across the Quad Cities.

The snow will begin late Tuesday evening and continue through daybreak Wednesday before it quickly tapers off. Once it's gone the sun will shine, again, Wednesday afternoon.  Even though the amount of snow is not expected to be that much, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the northern half of the QCA until noon Wednesday.

The snow will total less than an inch south of the Metro QC. Around the Metro we can expect 1 to 2 inches of powdery snow. North of Highway 30 some areas will receive 2 to 3 or even up to 4 inches of snow in some spots. With the extent of the cold the snow will be rather powdery like it was on Sunday.

Unfortunately, the snow WILL cause very slick road conditions Wednesday morning. As we get farther into our Wednesday the winds will strengthen. This will produce widespread blowing and drifting of the snow right through the afternoon hours. That wind will also cause our temperatures to fall during the day, and wind chills to drop to as cold as -15 to -20.

If being outside for any amount of time is required during the day tomorrow make sure you are dressed properly for it. Also, make sure you have extra blankets and warm clothes in your car.
