Davenport Police say they have responded to two separate incidents involving someone approaching a child.

The first happened on Friday December 6, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the area of Van Buren Park.

Police say the suspicious person was in a vehicle and described as a male white with a beard.

On Thursday December 12, 2013 at 7:47 am Davenport Police Patrol Units responded to the area of Monroe School regarding a student reporting that a subject driving  a van type vehicle approached the student who then fled.

The student reported the incident to a teacher who happened to be outside at the time.

The teacher saw a vehicle which matched the description given by the student as it drove off quickly out of the area.

A description of the subject was provided by the student of a male white in his 30's with a beard.

Police say they have stepped up patrols in the area and are investigating the incidents

Anyone with information is asked to call the Davenport Police at 563-326-7979.

Police say it's important to remind your children to not approach a vehicle if they don't know who's in it.

Also, when at all possible, walk in pairs or groups and report anything suspicious to parents or teachers immediately.
