UPDATE: Suspect Arrested In YMCA Gun Incident

UPDATE 5:40:

A suspect has been arrested after the gun incident at the North YMCA.

Jalen America, 21 of Davenport, was arrested after a search warrant at his residence that found the alleged gun.

America was transported to the Davenport Police Department where he was interviewed and charged with Carrying a Weapon on School Grounds a class D felony and Intimidation with a Weapon a class D felony.

Additional charges are possible pending further investigation.

UDATE 3:45: 

Davenport police say they received a call around 1:26 p.m. from someone reporting a person displayed a handgun at the North YMCA. Due to the proximity to North High School, Harrison School, and Wood Intermediate, the schools were locked down as a precautionary measure.

Officers began a systematic search of North High School. Video surveillance of the building interior and exterior were also viewed. Once officers on scene felt the school and the area were secure, the lockdown was lifted.  

UPDATE 3:02 p.m.:

Davenport school officials say the lockdown has been lifted. North H.S. students have been released. Wood and Harrison students will dismiss at the usual time. We are waiting to hear more from police on the incident that led to the lockdown.

A Davenport school official confirms three schools are on lockdown: North H.S., Harrison Elementary, Wood Intermediate following an incident at North. No one can enter and no one can leave the buildings right now.

According to Davenport police, the lockdown was issued after a report from the YMCA , which is located next to North High School. Police say there was an altercation during a basketball game and one of the participants pulled a gun. He has allegedly left the area, however, the school is being checked as a precaution.
