Mothers of Preschoolers

Updated:

Some days are joyous. Others are challenging. It's the reality of being a mother.

Saint Mark Lutheran Church in Davenport has started a MOPS group. It's called Mothers of Preschoolers.

Twice a month, young mothers have the opportunity to get together and meet with Mentor Moms. To get advice on the ever changing world of raising children.

The moms pray, do crafts, and enjoy some quality time with each other.

Child care is provided free during the meetings.  The children play in the church nursery where they have crafts, stories, songs and play activities.

Keri Bass has three children. She enjoys the opportunity to have some adult conversation and fellowship with younger mothers.

Angela Kauffman has four adult children and now is also raising her three year old granddaughter. Angela says  everybody needs a little bit of time to themselves.

Barb Palm is a Mentor Mom. She is a voice of experience. She offers guidance, moral support, and shares her stories of motherhood.

Barb says it's an opportunity for her and other mentors to offer some perspective, explaining what they did right and wrong when raising their kids.

The MOPS group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at Saint Mark Lutheran.

The group meets from about 9-11am.

MOPS is an international organization that started in 1973 in Colorado. There are also MOPS groups in the Netherlands.
