Galesburg Adopts Changes To Animal Control Ordinances

Updated:

City leaders in Galesburg, Ill. voted to approve changes to the city's animal control rules.

On Monday night, December 16, 2013, the council voted to expand the required length of a leash to eight feet.

They also changed the definition of "at large animals" so that dogs must be leashed, tethered, or fenced, even when they're on private property.

Animals can be unleashed only on private property when there's someone there physically capable of restraining them and even then, only in a backyard of a home.
