Second Man Arrested In Rock Island Fatal Shooting

Update Jan. 23, 2013: 

A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of 24-year-old Derek Johnson. Rock Island police have arrested Yolanduis L. McDuffie of Moline on charges of first degree murder and attempted armed robbery.McDuffie is currently in custody at the Rock Island County Jail.

Update Dec. 18, 2013:  The Rock Island County coroner identified the victim from a shooting in Rock Island on Dec. 17, 2013. Derek J. Jackson, 24, of Rock Island  died as a result of a gunshot wound.

Davenport police tell us they have arrested a man in connection to a Rock Island homicide.Aaron Henderson, 20, was located on West 35th Street in Davenport in what police are ruling a homicide.
Police are not releasing the victim's name at this time.

Earlier update:

A 24-year-old man has been killed after a shooting inside a residence in the 1000 block of 16th Avenue.

The incident occurred on December 18, 2013 at 11:59 a.m. The victim was transported by the Rock Island Fire Department to Unity Point where he succumbed to his injuries.

The name of the victim is not being released pending notification of next of kin by the county coroner.

Police are looking for information and a suspect.

Earlier update: Police will not release any information on the condition of the man who was shot, but the Rock Island County Coroner says a joint investigation is underway between Rock Island police and the coroner's office.

Police are at the scene of a shooting in Rock Island. Very little information is being released other than a man has been shot. Police have surrounded a home in the 1000 block of 16th Ave where they are investigating.
