Sledding Begins In Davenport

Sledding in Davenport has begun as city officials kicked off a new season. The Davenport Parks and Recreation Department has been working the past few weeks preparing the hill behind the Putnam Museum and The Hill at the Duck Creek Golf Course.
With fresh snowfall this weekend, the hills are ready.

"The idea is to provide a safer place for kids to enjoy themselves and enjoy the winter sports, especially sleigh riding and not be worried about running into trees or obstacles and so forth," said Davenport Mayor Bull Gluba.

These newly prepped spots are the designated sledding areas for Davenport. Un-authorized hills are sometimes marked and not safe for use.
