On Monday Quad Cities Toys for Tots said it's working to make sure another one of its gifts doesn't end up for sale on Craigslist.

The Quad Cities Toys for Tots coordinator says he found out about someone trying to sell a toy online --

with marks on the bar code identifying it was a toy from the program -- designed to provide children in need with a Christmas gift.

Quad Cities Toys for Tots says it has reason to believe this is an isolated and rare occurrence.

The coordinator says he asked the online seller to bring the toy back -- which they did.

But the incident left many of our viewers upset and disappointed that someone would sell a donated toy.

On Facebook -- viewers say toys for tots recipients have also tried putting the donated gifts on Facebook swap or buy and sell pages.

In reference to that, one viewer wrote,"just sad! They were supposed to help make Christmas special for the children!!"

Others said they appreciated how toys for tots handled the situation -- saying: "I'm glad they made her return it. Sounds to me like she didn't need the help that bad and they should ban people that do that sort of thing from future help if they are trying to profit off people's generosity."

KWQC learned about the incident after viewers messaged us about it online. If you have a story you'd like us to cover, you can contact us on Facebook or email us at news@kwqc.com.
