Morning Fulton Fire Destroys Home

It was a very cold morning for firefighters out on a call in Fulton, Illinois on January 6th. A home was destroyed after a fire there just before 6 a.m. It occurred in the 4900 block of 21st Avenue.
When crews arrived on the scene, they confirmed that flames were coming out the back of the house and the flames were strong enough that fire fighters were not able to get into the home.
Mutual aid was called from Clinton, Thompson and Albany.

"When the weather is like this the first thing we do is get extra personnel moving," said Fulton Deputy Fire Chief Boyd Vandellen. "We get them here and we rotate our crews frequently keep frostbite and hypothermia from setting in."
The cause of this fire is still under investigation but the Deputy Chief wants to remind people to be careful of wood burners, candles and heaters.
