Amtrak cancelled several trains again Wednesday because of weather disruptions, including the Carl Sandburg that runs a Chicago-Galesburg route and the Illinois Zephyr.

On Monday evening, a Chicago-bound passenger train became stuck in a snow drift in Bureau County and with bitter cold temperatures, passengers were kept on the train until they could be taken by bus to Chicago in the morning. They had heat, food and electricity while waiting. Passengers on two other trains also spent the night because of the back-up. Now, Amtrak is trying to get it's route structure back in order. If you have a train trip scheduled over the next few days, you're going to want to keep an eye on the Amtrak website.
