Posted: Updated:

She is known as America's First Cartoon Sweetheart.

Betty Boop made her first appearance in 1930. She was created by Max Fleischer.

Linda Lee of Rock Island is a Betty collector. She has just about all things Betty Boop.

Linda began collecting about thirty years ago. She watched the cartoon as a child.

Linda has more than sixty Betty dolls. All are dressed differently. Linda's sister-in law gave her most of the dolls.

Lee has clocks, ornaments, jackets, cookie jars, and even a Betty Boop license plate.

Linda says Betty is sassy, and has a style all her own.

Betty's voice was first performed by Margie Hines, and later by several other voice actresses.

At one time, she was considered "The Queen of the Animated Screen."

The last Betty Boop cartoons were released in 1939.

Today, Betty Boop is eighty four years old.  In her heyday, she became one of the most popular cartoon characters in the world.
