With the active winter we've had so far, many Quad Citians are probably wishing they could get away.

But, with tight budgets and limited vacation time, that can be difficult.

That's why the Be a Tourist in Your Own Backyard weekend might be just what you're looking for.

The weekend kicks off this Friday, January 17, 2014 and runs through Monday, January 20.

Quad City hotels, museums and restaurants will offer deals and discounts to get you to try some of the local attractions during this, their slow time of the year.

The Quad Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau has put together a list of participating hotels, restaurants, shopping and attractions.

On their website, there are coupons that you can print off or store on your cell phone and use to get discounts.

They also remind you that if you're booking a hotel room,, to be sure and mention "Be a Tourist" when making your reservation.
