Water Flows In Henderson, IL Once Again

Posted: Updated: Jan 16, 2014 08:10 AM

Residents of Henderson, Ill. have running tap water again, but they're still under a boil order.

Mayor Robert McKewan says the boil order won't be lifted until the EPA reviews water samples.

Some people say even though the water is running, it has a strange odor.
McKewan says the smell is caused by hydrogen sulfide, which he says is common in rural water systems.

He says henderson is looking for a solution.

"Right now we're increasing the chlorine levels and we'll just have to wait and see what happens."

The mayor says he'd like to improve the water system by running a water line from Henderson to Galesburg.

But, that project could cost nearly $1.5 million.
