Quad City Snowfall Trends

Posted: Updated:

Another day, another clipper. While snow accumulations this winter have been relatively light, it seems like it's been snowing almost every other day this winter. According to Meteorologist Kevin Phelps, it has!

Since Dec. 1, 2013, there has been at least a trace of snow on 23 of the past 51 days. Unlike some winters, in which one storm can dump nearly a foot of snow or more, this year, the highest snow accumulation in one event was 5.5 inches.

But add up all those small accumulations and we still have some big numbers. Total accumulation for the season through Jan. 21, is 30.5 inches. The average for the whole winter season in the Quad Cities is 31.6 inches.

More snow (a trace) is in the forecast this week!
