Illinois Film Industry Booms Last Year

Posted: Updated:

2013 was a record breaking year for the film industry in Illinois and the state says the industry generated $358-million in spending last year.

"About 2/3 of that alone a little over $200 million was spent on wages, which is a very important thing for so many people," said Gov. Pat Quinn.

Officials say filming last year included three studio feature films, more than 130 commercials, and six TV series. Some of the projects include NBC's "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D." "Chicago Fire" alone spent $58-million in 2013.

Governor Quinn says this is giving more people the opportunity to work and hopes to keep the momentum going.
