A fictional news website caught many QCA elephant lovers off guard this week.

The website rockcitytimes.com posted a fake story on Saturday, January 18, 2014, claiming "officials are looking for three elephants that escaped from Little Rock Zoo".

Two of the three missing elephants in the story happen to be Sophie and Babe, who were recently relocated from Niabi Zoo here in the Quad Cities.

Babe, 38 and Sophie, 44 were both former Ringling circus elephants who came to Niabi in 2000 and 2003 respectively.

Last year it was decided to end the pachyderm program at Niabi after an elephant expert recommended a warmer climate for the pair.

They were transferred to the Little Rock Zoo in October.

How are Babe and Sophie doing in their new home?

Susan Altrui from the Little Rock Zoo told us last week they were not only alright, but they were "flourishing" in their new environment.
