UPDATE: Kewanee Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

The Kewanee Police Department has arrested a suspect for an armed robbery of a Shell Gas Station.

A warrant was issued for Steven W. Lambert, 36 of Kewanee, and Lambert turned himself in to the Kewanee Police Department around 4 p.m.

The Kewanee Police Department would like to thank those citizens that helped provide information leading to the arrest.


The Kewanee Police Department is looking for help to identify a suspect in an armed robbery.

Police say the incident occurred Friday morning around 4:26.  

They say the suspect entered the Shell Express Station at 511 S. Main Street and remained until other patrons had left the building.  

He then approached the counter, displayed a knife and demanded the register cash.

Police say he left the gas station without any money, and left on West Prospect street in a small red car.

The suspect is described as a white male with tattoos on his face under both eyes and another tattoo on his temple. They say he was wearing a brown coat and hat.
