An escapee from the Davenport Work Release Facility was taken into custody a day after he went missing.

The Department of Corrections says 46-year-old Shawn Eugene Lee was placed on escape status on Monday, January 27, 2014 after an unexcused absence from the facility.

Officials say he was apprehended before noon on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, placed into custody and taken to the Scott County Jail.

Lee was originally transferred to work release on August 28, 2013.

His sentence began on February 12, 2003, when he was incarcerated for habitual offender (property), assault on peace officer-Muscatine County, habitual offender (person), habitual offender (property)-Scott County.
